NEXT BLOG PLEASE!

Blogger has had this feature on the top of it's page for as long as I can remember. I never had time to bother clicking it though. WHAT a surprise I got. I clicked it over and over last night traveling throughout the world to other people's blogs. RANDOM blogs of all kinds. I found the number one thing was that people are NOT blogging like they used to. Some had not been updated since 2009. Some only had ONE entry, some were about families and some were only about photos. Some were about the universe, politics or crafts and cooking.  I liked this kind of BLOG surfing, just to see "what's out there." Sad though that not many kept up the good writing, poems and thoughts that they should have. LIFE got in the way. I understand that all too well. We just don't take the time we used to to talk to one another using the blog format like we did in the past.

Facebook has kind of taken away a whole lot of that. It is a quicker way to keep up. I think that helped the downfall of blogs.  I ran across some nice blogs that are pretty interesting. I wish that some of them had the translator embedded in them also. Some you have to look at the photos and figure out what it is all about.
Here is the link to one from Hungary that clearly is creative and the work is very nice.
Not sure what this country is.. but the jewelry they make  is really nice HERE too..

I haven't run across one person that I know by hitting the NEXT BLOG button. There are thousands and thousands of blogs out there and the chances are pretty slim.
IF I DID I sure would be surprised. There is one I miss though most. It's HERE and well worth reading again..  When you get a minute try NEXT BLOG..you might just be surprised like I was and when you comment they might visit you and check your blog out too.

I've clicked that button on a few occasions but am usually overwhelmed trying to keep track of the blogs I normally follow.

BTW: This laptop came with Google Chrome installed as the default browser and i really like it for it's speed and stability. It also has a built in translation feature that identifies the language on a page and asks if you want to translate. The second page is also in Hungarian.

Last year when Blogger first started coming out with all the new features, they said that the "Next Blog" button would be replaced with a "Related Posts & Media" button. I wonder if they have given up that idea since they haven't mentioned it since. They seem to be focusing on the new "Dynamic View" templates instead. Time will tell I guess.

I have tried that a couple of times and found it very interesting and fun. Haven't done it lately though.

I think you have to be a bit careful with that 'next blog' feature since I heard that hitting that button can take you to a site with a virus. Just make sure your anti-virus software is up to date. I got my virus from a blog (didn't have my anti-virus protection activated) and I'm not sure that's why my computer is still so slow today.

I know the author of my favorite blog for lurking, in Israel, turned to Facebook instead.

Thanks for the heads up Dave! I got a Trojan from FB recently cut back my visits there that is for sure. Added another firewall too. Hope the computer begins to perk up soon! : )

I miss Bob very much still..I visit his blog and all the things I have saved of his. I 'talk' to him sometimes and cannot wait to see him again....Yes, FB killed the personal blog, but some of us trudge forward alone anyways..

I've tried that on occasion and am kind of with Chip on this one. I do think that FB has dumbed things down terribly and I miss the thoughtful blogs of WLS but I intend on plugging away and keeping at it.

It is how I found you! Though I have neglected blogging now and then, I always return. It is where my friends are. Facebook holds no attraction for me.

I admit that I'm blogging a lot less since Facebook came around.
