LAST ROSE OF SUMMER

The ground covered in a heavy frost, I watched the steam rise off the deck, bright sun glaring down on it. I was glad I had ventured into the yard and picked the last rose of summer.

A beautiful rose at that. It's been really cold in the mornings here too. We saved a couple of our plants but the rest are done for another year.

Just beautiful. Would you believe I went out 2 days ago and found 2 buds still on the bush and one forming? Now they have opened up and the other about ready to. I took a picture, will have to put it up.

Yes, we have said goodbye to Summer and hello to Autumn. I won't complain, because it's that time of year for the reintroduction of pumpkin, cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg flavouring in things!

Your photo.... allows us to hold on to that little bit of summer a little bit longer.

I had a yellow rose bush that we planted when we moved here 18 years ago and this summer we lost it to disease. I was so sad when we cut it down. That is such a large rose! I'll bet it's fragrance was intoxicating!
